We take on a handful of projects each year. It lets us give every one the room it deserves — the extra scout, the quieter frame, the second edit that finds the film.

Film first, always. We work with a trusted circle of directors, cinematographers, and producers — chosen for a project, not a roster.
Trust
Our best relationships are quiet, long, and honest. We say no when we should. We tell the truth about timelines, budgets, and what an idea will really need.
Taste
We are drawn to work that will still feel considered in ten years — to restraint over spectacle, and to images that stay with a viewer.

I started The Departure Co. after 13 years of directing and shooting work I was proud of. What I wanted was smaller: fewer projects, closer relationships, and the time to do each one well.
